Students and experts, in clinical engineering, biotechnology, health informatics and public health from the CEI region, i.e. from Austria, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Italy, Romania, Serbia and Slovenia gathered at Science and Research Center, Koper (Slovenia) on 14-17 May to attend the VIII edition of the Spring School on “IoT, economic and management challenges for e-health integration in the enlarged Europe” traditionally organised by the Higher Education in Clinical Engineering (HECE) of the University of Trieste and co-financed by the CEI Cooperation Fund.
This edition was organized in collaboration with the University of Ljubljana, the University of Belgrade and the University of Zagreb.
The 4-day program encompassed 13 lectures/talks focusing on selected topics of clinical engineering: Clinical engineering outsourcing services; Medical device software; Clinical and hospital information systems; ICT system to support e-care; mHealth solutions and challenges. A workshop related to Implantable Medical Devices, was organized in collaboration with the Medtronic.
The School was opened by HECE director Prof. Agostino Accardo, and by Prof. Ratko Magjarević, former President of the International Federation for Medical and Biological Engineering (IFMBE), who underlined the growing need for clinical engineers in the Europe and in particular in the CEI region. Among the experts,
Prof. Zoran Jovanović, Dean of Faculty of Electrical engineering at the University of Belgrade and Eng. Diego Bravar vice-chairmen of Confindustria Venezia Giulia and CEO of Biovalley Investments Group, participated as speakers at the VIII Spring School.
The gathering was also a great opportunity for participating experts to exchange views and experience on the related topics, as well as for networking among all participants.
The topics envisaged for next year’s 9th CEI –HECE Spring School to be held in May 2019 will be mostly related to the Internet of Things (IoT), economic and management challenges in clinical engineering in the CEI region.
